Board Meeting Minutes from June 8, 2004
In attendance
- Brad Scheevel, Cary Ecker, Steve Moller, Howard Mathisen, Brian Stern, Tiger King, Ty Franklin, Debbie Franklin, Mike Gent, Torina Gent, Jean Dellino, Reiko Sheckler, Devin Barrett
Roofing
- A number of homeowners from 139th Pl. attended to complain about a home on their street that had their roof replaced in apparent violation of the CC&Rs.
- Discussed acceptable roofing alternatives to cedar: select products from GAF and PABCO.
- The apparent homeowner in violation is using a PABCO product, but one with an inappropriate finish (both in thickness and color).
- As discussed in previous meetings, the board is looking into adding language in the CC&Rs to allow fines for violations. Cary has finally found a lawyer who will take a small case such as this.
- The association's lawyer will send an official letter to the apparent violator stating that the roof is in violation and may need to be replaced at their cost.
- Devin suggested publishing architectural specs for acceptable roofs. Brian will add a section to website showing approved roofing materials.
- As the Architectural Control Committe was disbanded per the CC&Rs years ago, the board will continue to approve alternate roofing materials as appropriate. The board is looking into how the committe can be reinstated.
Waterfall
- The electrical repairs and upgrades to the waterfall is complete.
- An electricial will inspect the waterfall's pump and motor next week to assess their condition. If either component is damaged it will be replaced.
- Brad estimated the pump will be operating again in approximately 3 weeks.
Other
- The homeowners from 139th Pl. all complained of the condition of two yards on their street.
- A homeowner complained about curb obstructions on 63rd Dr: a "permanent" skateboard ramp and cars parked on the curb. This is most likely illegal as well.
- A homeowner complained about speeding on Snohomish-Cascade Dr. A sheriff does sometimes patroll this street in the mornings.
- A homeowner inquired about whether a shed must match the home's color. It must only if it is visible from the street.
- Six homeowners have still not paid their dues and have not made any arrangements. Brad will send out lien letters for these homes next week.
- A large tree that fell during the most recent windstorm still blocks a part of the trail. Devin volunteered to cut the tree.
