New Four Member BoardWe have a four member board of directors, a first for our homeowner’s association. In the past, our board has had three members, a president, secretary and treasurer. At times we have had 2 members on the board, a president and a secretary/treasurer. Our bylaws allow for a maximum of 5 board members.Current members of the board are:
Management CompanyTo help with the management of the association affairs, the board of directors has hired Port Gardner Management.Past boards have found conducting association business very challenging as volunteers. In the late 1990’s the board hired a local resident as bookkeeper. The bookkeeper helped the Treasurer with keeping the books, sending out the dues notices and helped the rest of the board with various administrative matters. However, the board in 2006 felt that it needed more help with CC&R enforcement and with finding contractors for various projects. Port Gardner Management will:
Waterfall UpdateThrough most of 2006 the waterfall has not been running and most of the lighting for it has been off. Problems at the waterfall have included flooding of the water pump vault, plugged up drainage at the waterfall’s basin, vandalized flood light fixtures. Also, the electrical panel is affixed to the back of the sign which is rotting away. The board of directors along with two association members and our landscape service, Glenbrook Services, is developing a plan of action to fix these problems. The project will include cleaning out and improving the French drain around the vault, sealing the cracked vault wall and piping, installing two sump pumps in the vault, removing logs and trash in the upper waterfall basin, repairing the lighting, including possibly placing the lights underground for better protection from vandalism, and re-landscaping in front of the waterfall. The board is researching the cost and is developing the timing for the project. Totem Pole UpdateIn February 2005 one of our two totem poles at the waterfall was stolen. Two suspects were seen attempting to saw the totem pole off when they were scared away by a citizen. They completed the theft one or two days later. The Sheriff’s Office has been unable to catch the thieves. In 2005, the board of directors contracted with a totem pole carver to replace the stolen totem pole. During 2006 the board lost contact with the carver. The new board has been able to contact the carver and is making arrangements to have the new totem pole installed. Landscaping UpdateThe board of directors is developing a landscape plan with Glenbrook Services to improve the landscaping in our common areas.Areas for improvement include, the waterfall, the medians in the middle of Snohomish Cascade Dr SE, along the fencing at Snohomish Cascade Dr SE between 142nd St SE and 146th Pl SE and the south sign. Other possible enhancements include the triangle on the northeast corner of Snohomish Cascade Dr SE and Puget Park Dr as well as walkways from Snohomish Cascade Dr SE and 63rd Dr SE and Totem Falls Elementary to Cascade Dr SE.
