Garage Sale

The Falls Neighborhood Garage Sale is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 16 and 17! Please spread the word to all your neighbors!! Gold Creek is also having theirs this same weekend.

Waterfall Update

The waterfall has been off because during construction of the 132nd St extension the vault holding the water pump was blocked allowing water to accumulate in the vault and damaging the pump. The drainage for the vault has been repaired and the pump has been replaced. The next task is to hook up electricity to the pump.

Other enhancements to the waterfall area have included:
  • A French drain to improve drainage around the waterfall and pump vault;
  • New sod to replace the grass that was torn up during the road construction;
  • Our landscaper has planted annuals around the waterfall for better summer color.

Roofing Materials

Many homes in our neighborhood are nearing an age where roof replacement is necessary to ensure value, sound construction and acceptable appearance. In the years since our homes were built, the quality of Cedar shake roofing has steadily declined, while the cost of the material has climbed dramatically. To proactively serve our community’s need for affordable yet architecturally pleasing alternatives to shakes, the architectural review committee and the board has approved two composite roofing materials for homeowners interested in an alternative to Cedar Shakes.

Approved non-shake roofing materials are as follows:

GAF Materials Corporation:
  • Grand Sequoia Series, in colors Cedar Blend, Mesa Brown Blend, Slate Blend or Weathered Wood Blend
  • Grand Canyon Series, in colors Sedona Sunset, Stone Wood or Mission Brown.
These two materials present a layered texture, and blended natural colors found in Cedar shake or natural slate roofing materials. The installed appearance is deemed acceptable and pleasant by many high end communities in our area, and we feel it is responsible to offer the alternative to our community as well. Any other composite/non-shake material must be presented to the Architectural review committee prior to purchase or installation, and must be approved in writing by the board.

We trust the available alternatives will be well received by those of you who wish to re-roof with a material other than shake, and we are glad to have found a material that will maintain the architectural intent of our community.

Locking Mailboxes

Several members have enquired whether we are still getting locking mailboxes. Yes, we are. The board has developed a preliminary plan for placement of the new locking boxes. Next, the post office will review that plan to ensure that it is feasible for the letter carrier.

While this may seem slow, we will be receiving those locking mailboxes, eventually.

Pets and Noise

Many of us like having and taking care of pets. Those of us with dogs should remember a few rules that should help keep peace in our neighborhood:

  1. Dogs need to be licensed. Be sure to license your pet dog with the Snohomish County Auditor's Office. For information on licensing your dog call the Auditor's Office at (425) 388-3627 or go to http://www.co.snohomish.wa.us/auditor/ALicDiv01-PetsKennels.asp.
  2. Dogs need to be on a leash when they are off of their owner's property (in accordance with Snohomish County Code Chapter 9.14).
  3. Dogs need to be trained not to bark consistently throughout the day and night. The county code declares "frequent or repetitive noisemaking" as a public disturbance (Snohomish County Code 10.01.040 (1) (a) and 10.01.020 (18)). Please be courteous to your neighbors and train your dog not to bark consistently. For more information call 911 to talk to an Animal Control Officer. To see the county code go to The Snohomish County Home Page http://www.co.snohomish.wa.us/ then click on "County Code" on the left.
